Online tournament
I started an online scrabble tournament with 30 of my law school classmates on Scrabble Go! We have a group chat and a bracket and it's been a lot of fun so far with people sharing moves and scores.
Video game/movie/book club
My friends and I started a virtual video game club. We vote on a game, play it, then hop on Zoom to discuss over some whiskey. Yes, we're nerdy, but you could do this with books or podcasts.
Write a mystery novel with your friends
My friend and I started a shared google doc, we each take turns writing a paragraph of a "fiction" story, but the other person is only allowed to read the last sentence of the previous paragraph. So at the end the story will probably not make any sense, but it's fun!
Rubik's cube solving
Now’s the perfect time to learn how to solve a Rubik's cube.
A book game (no reading required)
... My friend taught me a game called novel where you get a bunch of friends on video chat and switch off picking books to be a part of your game. You only show the cover and back cover of the book and everyone submits what they predict the first sentence of the book is. You then vote on the best answer and see if your guess matches reality. The more cringe the book the better!
Home curling
We tried to slide tissue boxes from down the hall and get them to land under a chair. We called it Tissue Box Curling and it was super fun! We used some swiffers to sweep the "ice". We took turns and each round the closest player got 1pt (if no one was under the chair), partway under the chair got 2pts, and fully under the chair got 3pts. You could also play for fun without points :)
Virtual quiz night
Virtual quiz night! One person is the quiz master & everyone joins via google hangouts. Answers are on the honor system since you can't prevent people from googling. Winner gets a Grubhub/postmates credit!
Theme nights
My roommates and I have been intentionally scheduling theme nights to keep us sane while we practice social distancing. One night was "jazzercise night" where we put on 80s-esque workout gear and danced along with those ridiculous videos on YouTube ...
Collaborative shopping
Download the apps to all of your favorite stores with your bff. Go into each store together and add what you like to your cart. When you're done looking around, swap carts and give each other advice on what looks you like and don't like. Formulate a budget and make your final selections to checkout then head to the next store together! Full shopping day from home with your friend! Pro tip: add champagne for a unique at home shopping experience with twice the amount of fun.”A Nudger from Austin
Jog and chat
Schedule time with a friend to go for a jog, but on the phone! Put your headphones in and take off, keeping a conversational pace you can chat as if you were running together down the west side highway - it makes the time fly by and you get some fresh air!
Donate with friends
I'm creating a virtual 5K with friends across the country - we're picking a cause to donate $20/each to, then we'll run a 5k in our own cities on the same day. Then celebrate over Zoom after, naturally.
Pull a prank
Rearrange your partner/roomate’s belongings when they aren’t around and record the reaction when they notice.
